So whats up with these driftwood effigy that seem to materialise around the coastline of New Zealand? What gives…

A marker for invading Australians? Or just some primeval urge that our cave-man ancestors bestowed upon us?

And what gives with all having a central spine but not always pointing towards the water? Compass??

Perhaps we need a national competition to see who can build the best…although probably need a good storm first to create some raw materials.
